Speaker: Professor Sophy Smith
The 250th Anniversary of the birth of Jane Austen.
Professor Sophy Smith will describe the development of Elizabeth Bennett’s Avatar Lizzie and the potential implications for interactive technology for museums. With funding from the Games and Innovation Nexus, Professor Smith collaborated with StarPal.AI and the Jane Austen House to create this AI avatar of a fictional character, a first of its kind. This is an opportunity to ask Lizzy those unanswered questions relating to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and to see and experience at first hand the interaction with the Avatar Lizzy.
Professor Sophy Smith is the newly appointed Executive Dean of Farnham Campus UCA, previously Director of the School of Games and Creative Technology. She holds 10+ years’ experience as a composer, then moved into research around areas of Creative Technology with particular focus on immersive performance and interdisciplinary innovation.
