Sophie has been one of the project leaders in this nationwide attempt to stem the widespread extinction of vulnerable species, working in particular on the Dorset’s Heathland Heart project. Naturalists from a wide variety of conservation bodies plus volunteers from across the county are looking to preserve tiny populations of rare species including the Purbeck Mason Wasp, Heath Tiger Beetle, Pondweed Leafhopper, Southern Damselfly, Pillwort, Yellow Centaury, Pale Dog Violet and more.
