Speaker; Tony Fulford
Tony writes ‘Whilst engaged in medical research in The Gambian bush, I took the opportunity to get to know the birdlife in Kiang West. At weekends I would retreat deeper into the bush to capture and ring the birds, and record their songs and calls. I will review a selection of the extraordinary species with which this allowed me to become familiar, illustrating them with my photographs (birds in the hand) and sound recordings. I will describe aspects of their behaviour, discuss how tropical species differ from temperate ones and relate a number of anecdotes arising from this experience.
