On the 25th August 1940, the German Luftwaffe intended to put R.A.F. Warmwell Airfield out of action. The attack involved nearly 40 bomber aircraft escorted by over 200 fighters, and possibly the largest single target raid of the Battle of Britain. 2025 is the 85th anniversary of this action.
