This is a level area with easy going and should be dry at this time of year.
Parking
Parking is at the main car park (SZ 210 993) near Holmsley Caravan and Camp Site off Forest Road near the small road that leads to the campsite (not within the campsite itself).
This area is very good for finding some of the rarer British plants because it is unimproved and regularly grazed by the Forest ponies. Additionally it is more calcareous than many other parts of the New Forest due to both geology and the remains of the WW2 airfield.
We will be looking for plants of late Summer and Autumn e.g. Autumn Lady’s-tresses orchids, Gentians and other plants of the season.
