Speaker: Wayne Williams

Wayne Williams, Head Gardener at Ventnor Botanic Gardens, will show some of the highlights of this 22 acre frost free garden on the Isle of Wight known as “Britain’s Hottest Garden”. All of the plants have been selected to grow well in the 21st century. Many are heat and drought tolerant and grow in frost free climates.

Wayne took up the post of Head Gardener at Ventnor in November 2023, having been in horticulture for over 30 years. He has extensive experience in show gardens, including at Chelsea Flower Show, the Birmingham N.E.C, and Philadelphia Flower Show. He worked at Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Glasshouses for twenty-six years, as a Gardener, Plant Records Officer, Propagator, Senior Horticulturist and Head Gardener.
