Event date: 1st September 2026 at: 7.45pm (zoom only)

Speaker: Dr. Meganne Christian

Dr Meganne Christian shares her extraordinary journey from industrial chemist to Antarctic winter‑over scientist to astronaut‑in‑training. Drawing on experiences from Concordia Station’s –80°C isolation to microgravity research flights and advanced materials science, she reveals how resilience, curiosity, and international collaboration shaped her path toward spaceflight. An inspiring look at what it takes to prepare for life beyond Earth. Meganne Louise Christian FRAeS is a member of the 2022 European Space Agency Astronaut Group, and Reserve Astronaut and Exploration Commercialisation Lead at the UK Space Agency. She was previously a materials scientist at the National Research Council (CNR) in Bologna, Italy, and atmospheric physicist at Concordia Station in Antarctica.
