Speaker: Sally Eyre
A hands-on session highlighting the BNSS shell collection. A fun and informative talk where you will learn what a mollusc is, their role in human history and some stories behind the collection of the BNSS. Then participate in the show and tell by bringing along your own shell for discussion. Suitable for all ages. Sally Eyre has studied art up to MA level. Her interest in shells began as a child when her Dad, a scientist himself, would take her to the beach telling her the names of different species. Sally then discovered that seashells were made by animals and has been fascinated ever since. Sally volunteers at the BNSS as Conchologist and Artist in Residence, combining her two passions to educate others. Her artwork is deeply inspired by the natural world and she uses her sketchbooks as a tool to deepen her own knowledge whilst recording observations.
