Living between 140 and 100 million years ago, large herd-dwelling plant eaters called Iguanodons roamed the Earth. They were one of the first species to be called Dinosaurs. Modern studies of footprints and bony anatomy reveal Iguanodon primarily walked on all four legs, using just two for specific tasks. Its hand structure supported grasping and defence, and its tail served mainly for balance.
